Dr. O’Neil received his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Cortland majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. From there, he attended the State University of New York College of Optometry in New York City, where he received his Doctorate of Optometry. He was awarded the Dr. Sanford and Claire Levy Scholarship, an award given to students from Central New York who advance the field of optometry. Dr. O’Neil’s clinical studies were highlighted by the University Eye Center in Manhattan and at the VA hospital system in Syracuse.
Along with primary care optometry, Dr. O’Neil has been working in an ophthalmology setting diagnosing and treating ocular disease such as dry eye, cataract post-op care, glaucoma, diabetic eye exams, and macular degeneration, among others. Dr. O’Neil has vast knowledge of medical technologies such as visual fields, Ocular Coherence Tomography, and fundus photography.
Dr. O’Neil was born and raised locally in the Onondaga Hill region of Syracuse. In his spare time his hobbies consist of watching and playing ice hockey, listening to all genres of music, cars, and traveling.
