Dr. Lawrence Cecchi is a board-certified ophthalmologist from western Canada, the son of Italian parents. Being in the United States since 1991, he became a U.S. citizen in May of 2023. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College in 1995. There he met his future wife, Kathryn (Fallon) who is a native of Skaneateles, New York.
In 2003, he graduated from Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, in the top 15% of his class. He went on to do his Preliminary Internal Medicine Internship at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, and then completed his Ophthalmology residency training at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania in 2007.
He then relocated to Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York, where he was Attending Ophthalmologist for 5 years. While there, he brought innovative technology to his patients, being the first in the Bassett system to use refractive cataract surgery with implantation of multifocal intraocular lenses.
In 2012, he acquired the private practice of John Griffin, M.D. which is based in Syracuse, New York. Dr. Griffin, a beloved member of the local community, has since retired. He has maintained a busy general ophthalmology practice which focuses on cataract surgery and general eye care.
Dr. Cecchi lives in Cazenovia, New York, with his wife and 5 children. In his spare time he follows English football, enjoys the outdoor with hunting and gardening, and is fluent in Italian. His main pusuit is art, particularly figurative painting, and he covets the time he can spend painting in his attic studio.
